What is the S.T.O.R.M. Program?

The Warrior’s Edge S.T.O.R.M. (Special Team of Role Models) Program is an incredible leadership building program designed to recognize, encourage and honor those students (ages 8-13) who have shown the desire and leadership skills needed to make them successful in life.  It is a three sided program that creates a triangle of power of support for the student to accomplish their goals.  The first side represents the student’s behavior at home.  The second side shows the student’s academic attitude and accomplishments in school and the third side demonstrates their focus and leadership skills in the dojo.

Members of the S.T.O.R.M. Program will receive a special patch to recognize them as a leader in the dojo along with a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment.  Once in the program they will receive special training classes specifically for them.  These classes will include cool ninja and samurai training as well as discussions on how to become a more effective leader in class and in life.  S.T.O.R.M. members also attend special classes with guest speakers who are leaders in their community.  These role models will teach the students the qualities of being a successful leader in the real world.

Practicing what they learn

S.T.O.R.M. members will organize and run charity events.  This will allow them to exercise their leadership abilities and teamwork skills while at the same time giving back to the community.  They will work together with S.T.O.R.M. Program mentors and instructors to decide on what charity they wish to work with and how they will accomplish their set goals.

Every year S.T.O.R.M. team students will have the opportunity to win a $500.00 prize.  This is awarded to the student who has shown all year long that they live the life of a true leader. 

How does my child qualify for the program?

To qualify as member of the S.T.O.R.M. Program, students must be between the ages of 8 and 13, trained at Warrior’s Edge for at least a year and earned at least an orange belt (solid yellow belt if they have been in the Ninja Rangers program for at least a year).  Once they meet these requirements, they must turn in a completed three part evaluation application. In the first part, parents will evaluate them on their respect to their family members, initiative and self-discipline when it comes to chores and homework and their compassion and leadership to their friends and family.

The second part is filled out by their school teacher.  They must have a history of showing respect to their teacher and other students, demonstrate initiative and leadership qualities at school and maintain a B or higher equivalent in their classes.

The final section is an evaluation of their behavior at the dojo.  Here we will assess their leadership qualities in class as well as their focus and desire to learn.  Lastly, do they consistently show respect to the instructors and their fellow students.  

Students must achieve a “Great” rating in all categories to qualify as a member of the program.  If a student is slightly lower or needs improvement in an area, we will work with them on how they can improve their scores so that they can achieve their goal of becoming a member.
